Blue light blocking glasses are specially designed eyewear that filter out the high-energy blue light emitted from screens (phones, computers, TVs) and artificial lighting. Too much exposure to this type of light can cause digital eye strain, headaches, and disrupt your sleep. Our glasses are designed not only for when we're in front of screens but are also perfect for moments before going to sleep, such as when reading a book at night, as they help us avoid straining our eyes. They're also perfect for going out and combining them with your favorite outfits, since at Gloney we're committed to combining health with fashion.
Blue light is primarily associated with eye strain, also known as Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS), which occurs when the eye spends too much time focusing or is exposed to low or bright light. Some of its most common symptoms are red and dry eyes, tired vision, and headaches.
Another of the most common factors related to blue light is sleep disturbance. According to specialized neuroscience studies, exposure to blue light causes a decrease in melatonin synthesis. Melatonin is the sleep hormone. What does this mean? If we use screens before sleeping, we reduce melatonin synthesis and we are unable to fall asleep. This causes insomnia, which is why it is recommended (or experts recommend) to avoid exposure to screens or light during the two hours before going to bed.
